Each quarter, we offer several free workshops for students, campus and community members. The workshops are designed to help you learn to use library resources more effectively, easily and efficiently. You'll get an overview on a specific resource and then have a chance to practice with a librarian's help. All workshops are fifty minutes and require no advance sign-up. Workshops are held in LIB105.

Reference tools: finding reliable information quickly Wed January 18  12-12:50am	Online and print reference tools are designed to give you an overview on any topic. Learn how to make these great research tools work for you.
Finding sourcees for your research paper  Thursday, January 19 1-1:50pm	Starting a research paper can be daunting. Get help here, and learn what kinds of resources we have available and how to strategize for success.
Searching for library materials: how to use the catalog  Monday, January 23  1-1:50pm	Our library catalog is shared with North and Central campuses. In it you can find streaming video, books, e-books and more. Learn how to search by subject and keyword, discover how to refine and speed up your search.
Creating a successful search: effective techniques for database research Wednesday, January 25  2-2:50pm	There's more to search strategy than just typing a couple words in the big box! Learn how using the best terms in the best combinations can make a difference. You'll walk away with tips you can use for any search engine or database.
Smarter Web Searches: finding the best beyond Google  Friday, January 27  1-1:50pm	Web search engines will yield thousands or millions of results, but are you finding the quality information you need? In this workshop, learn how to search more critically and more effectively.
Writing Citations Tuesday, February 7 11-11:50am	Do you have to write a bibliography for your research paper? Not sure when you need to cite your sources? Wondering how to write citations for online sources? Get answers to all your questions about bibliographies and citations.
The best online sources for images, art and photographs  Friday, February 10 11-11:50am	The internet is now home to hundreds of digital archives, where you can find works of art, historic photos, graphic images and more. Learn about where and how to find these resources, and what copyright rules you need to follow when you use them.
